Very excited to be invited to share kirtan at the newly opened Flow State Hove. Our first ones in January and February were amazing!

Kirtan is from the Bhakti Yoga tradition, the yoga of devotion....and by the 14th century in India it was the most popular form of yoga!

We join be joining our voices together to flow into oneness. The mantras and melodies are repeated and create a meditative and often blissful state.

It is also a practice of purification and helps clear the cobwebs in our minds and hearts, leaving us feeling uplifted, nourished and heart opened.

Join us for a fun, creative workshop where you will make your own 'mala' to take home with you. With a wide variety of beautiful beads to choose from, the day will be filled with mindful movement, joyful chanting and interesting stories about beads, prayer beads, mantras and hindu deities.

"Mindful beads are more than an ornament. They are a way to keep the sacred close to our hearts and hands. They are symbols of growth, spirituality, belief and promise” - Alice Peck

In this workshop we are going to approach the use of beads in all their beautiful shapes and diverse material, as a tool for prayer. 'Prayer' as a way of setting a sacred intention and not necessarily attached to any religion or belief system. 

Through the examination of practices used in different cultures throughout time, the use of beads to count prayers appears to have originated with the Hindus in India (prayer bead = mala). Within the context of Yoga and Hinduism we are going to explore how to create a mala and learn how to use it to repeat mantras - japa mala.

This is not an evening to be missed!

Kirtan is such a beautiful and uplifting practice, clearing the body and mind and opening the heart. Joining together with our hearts and voices not only bringing us joy but also the collective as we share our healing sound vibrations and intentions. No experience necessary.

After the Kirtan… Raj’s famous Daal, rice, delicious chutneys and popadoms will be served. All vegan and prepared with love. It’s a divine combination!
